Winter storm warning in effect from 11 pm this evening to 8 pm edt Monday,
The NWS in detroit/pontiac has issued a winter storm warning for heavy snow, which is in effect from 11 pm this evening to 8 pm edt Monday. The winter storm watch is no longer in effect.
Rain and snow will spread into the area late this evening. This precipitation will change to all snow and become heavy at times overnight. Snow will persist into Monday morning, before gradually tapering off late in the day. Total accumulations around 6 inches can be expected, with locally higher amounts possible generally north of the m 59 corridor. North to northwest winds will also gust to 30 mph or more by Monday.

A winter storm warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
